About our Team

Michael B Mathis D.M.D. Michael Mathis earned his dental degree from the University of Louisville School of Dental Medicine after earning his bachelor’s degree from the University of Louisville. He has attained his fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry, and maintains memberships in American Dental Association, Kentucky Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, and the Louisville Dental Society.

Dr. Mathis has taken extensive postgraduate education courses. His focus is on offering complete dental health to his patients through adult orthodontics, implant placement and restorations, full mouth reconstruction, and routine restorative procedures. Dr. Mathis also believes in educating others, so the Mathis Dental team publishes a monthly newsletter on such topics as periodontics (gum disease), digital radiography, oral cancer screenings and routine dental hygiene. He is an active participant in the community, volunteering for the “Smile Kentuckiana” program. In his spare time, he enjoys outdoor activities with his two sons and one grandson, including hiking, snow skiing, boating, and camping in the great outdoors.

Clinical Staff

All of our clinical staff has:

• CPR certification for healthcare providers through the American Heart Association
• Kentucky certification in Radiology Safety and Technique

Hygienist:

Paula Pulford, RDH (Registered Dental Hygienist) I have been a Dental Hygienist at Mathis Dental since 2000. I enjoy working with a positive team of dental assistants, administrative staff, and Doctor. I appreciate the cutting edge technology our office has to offer - intraoral cameras, digital imaging, oral cancer screenings, Diagnodent detection, etc.

Dental Assistants:

Courtney Mattingly, EDDA (Enhanced Dental Duties Assistant) I received my Expanded Duty Dental Assistant certification in 1998 from Jefferson Technical College. I take great pride in addressing and taking care of patients' individual needs - dental or otherwise and consistently delivering the highest standard of patient care. I have been with Mathis dental for 13 years and counting and continue to enjoy the knowledgeable and personable doctor and staff that I have the pleasure of working with. Our office stays on the cutting edge of technology offering continued opportunity for personal growth, both of which I am grateful for. I am truly appreciative of the opportunity to be a part of the Mathis Dental family.

Tiffany Rutledge, Dental Assistant I graduated from ATA college with a Diploma in Dental Assisting in 2009. Thankfully, I got the wonderful opportunity to be a part of Mathis Dental, where I had also completed my high school internship. I am very passionate about what I do. My favorite thing about Mathis Dental is that we all care and have a passion for helping others.   Whether it’s one of our own or a patient, everyone is treated like family and presented with the best possible treatment to not only remove decay and get teeth back to a health status but to help everyone achieve a great smile they can be proud of.

Administrative Staff

Tracy Lemmons, Insurance Coordinator/Finance Manager I became part of Mathis Dental in 2009 and have enjoyed working in all areas of the front office including receptionist, and now as the Insurance coordinator/ Finance Manager. I most enjoy being an Insurance coordinator/ Finance Manager because I love to be able to help patients in need of dental work and be able to show them the options of how to get the work completed. “My favorite part is getting to see our patient's lives change right before us. We have the opportunity to make our patients both beautiful and healthy." Lisa Mathis, Office Coordinator I have been with Mathis Dental for 7 years now. My goal for my career with Mathis Dental is to give supreme customer service to all patients I come in contact with. I enjoy working with all of our patients, especially when I have seen some extreme patient transformations over the years, literally frowns turned upside down. That, along with being able to work for an extremely caring doctor and a friendly staff is why I love it here!

Emily Stein, Dental Receptionist I have been with Mathis Dental since August 2010. My passion is to help others. I believe there is no greater satisfaction than in making someone's day through your actions, no matter how small or big. Honesty, integrity, and compassion are characteristics that I expect of myself and I have been so lucky to have found it in my work as well. I am proud to be able to serve the patients of this practice and feel very privileged for the opportunity to grow and build relationships."
